Into the Blue!

Welcome to the Ipswich Sub-Aqua Club Website

The 2010 dive year really took off when 29 members descended on Lulworth Dorset for a weeks excellent wreck and reef diving.

Other succesful dives this year include Norfolk, Littlehampton and Southwold.

This year we plan to do more local diving as well as week long trips to Cornwall and St Abbs in Scotland.

When we are not busy diving we will still be having fun with social events and training. We meet at Fore Street pool on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm, and afterwards at the Admiral Nelson nearby. Currently we have in the region of 60 members. If you are interested in joining our club, please get in touch. We frequently do tryout sessions and if you have not been a club diver previously, do come and talk to us and see what we have to offer.

We are branch 32 of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) which has 1500 branches world-wide - over 150 of them outside the UK - and over 50,000 members: the biggest diving club in the world!

Our club follows the BSAC syllabus for diver training and we award BSAC qualifications. We accept divers with PADI qualifications, transferring to the BSAC equivalent.

The objectives of our club are to provide training to enable our members to develop their skills and to organise dives locally, around the UK and abroad.

We have a strong social and community agenda, providing the first scuba diving experiences for many young swimmers from Ipswich and the surrounding area. As a result we are the first dive club in the UK to achieve the Clubmark registration. We are also members of the Team Ipswich initiative aimed at developing sport in the Ipswich area.

In addition to a full dive programme we also have a good social programme, and a regular newssheet. For more information about club activities, click on the 'What We Do' and other links or get in touch.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Adrian and Vicky are sailing off to adventure! Dont miss their leaving party, 10th July, it should be one to remember.

The week trip to Cornwal still has a couple of spaces left, and keep an eye on the board or newsgroup for local dives.

Members will be introducing pupils from Beyton Middle School to diving at their pool on the 12th and 19th July.

Recent events:

The season started with a chilly weekend for the brave out of Littlehampton with warm up dives on the Mulberry, the Cuckoo and a drift over Kingsmere rocks. The Tornado was a treat, quiet and with no 2 stroke fumes thanks to the new engine.

Reports of a early viz off Norfolk were investigated and an excellent dive was had on the Conway, which is now covered bow to stern in anenomes and provided three trophy bottles of wine still corked.

One of the clubs biggest and best party and social events was hosted by Ian and Elaine under the guise of a wedding. Sadly they did not offer to take us on their honeymoon, 'diving' in Cape Verde.

The club Christmas Dinner/Dance was held at Hintlesham Hall on the 22nd January giving the ladies a chance to show just how classy they are.
